Lapini Building
The Lapini family were important landowners in Subbiano. They made their fortune through agriculture and by organizing their palace in the town center as a veritable farm, equipped for the preservation and sale of agricultural products.
The family, ennobled in Arezzo in 1837 due to their socio-economic status, held key public offices in the Subbiano community. Francesco Lapini was appointed Maire by the French government in 1808. Later, Lorenzo Lapini served as Gonfaloniere multiple times under the Grand Duke of Tuscany, and Lapino Lapini was
Mayor in 1886 and 1892.
The most celebrated member of the family was Orazio Lapini, a poet and orator who lived in this palace during the early 20th century. He authored an important collection of poems inspired by Carducci and the volume "Conferenze e discorsi" (1926), providing insights into Subbiano's cultural and political life.
Thanks to Orazio's donation, the Accademia Petrarca in Arezzo acquired a significant library collection, dedicated to his prematurely deceased son Lorenzo, which scholars still consult.
